Around & About

Sea Spell is adjacent to the 2nd Fairway of Trevose Golf and Country Club which has an eighteen hole course (handicap certificate required), a nine hole course and a second nine hole course for beginners with 7 par threes and 2 par fours.

Constantine Bay is only a 400m stroll either through the garden gate and down the footpath or along the beach road. St Merryn Parish boasts "Seven Bays for Seven Days" but it takes much longer than a week to discover all the glorious beaches in the vicinity, from tiny rocky coves to the glorious sandy stretches of the Camel estuary.

Dogs are allowed on Constantine, Harlyn and Treyarnon beaches, but not on Trevone, which is an ideal bay for families with small children. Life guards patrol the beaches from May to September.

St Merryn village (2.5 miles) has two convenience stores (one with PO counter), two pubs, three restaurants, newsagents, a petrol station and garage, a wine bar, a fish and chip shop/restaurant and a beautiful 750 year old church. There is also a charming tea room, a hairdresser and a baker’s shop.

Padstow (5 miles) is a delightful harbour town with a number of excellent restaurants and some very welcoming pubs. There are banks (restricted opening hours) and building societies, a chemist, bakers and general stores and a variety of other shops. Tesco is just outside the town.

For walkers the South West Coast Path passes by Sea Spell. To the west the path leads to Bedruthan Steps and beyond to Newquay, and to the east via Trevose Head the path reaches Padstow.

Beyond Bedruthan, about 6 miles from Sea Spell, is the Merlin Golf Course at Mawgan Porth.

Cornwall has a wealth of attractions and facilities easily reached by road from Sea Spell. The north coast has rugged cliffs, peaceful coves and wide surfing beaches. Inland there are National Trust houses and gardens, quiet cornish lanes, reminders of the mining heritage of Cornwall and bustling market towns. The Eden Project , the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the gardens at Caerhays Castle are within a 45 minutes' drive south, whilst to the west lies St Ives and the Tate Gallery, Falmouth, Mount's Bay, Penzance and Newlyn, the gardens at Trebah and the open air Minack Theatre.

Sea Spell is ideally placed for visitors to the Royal Cornwall Show, held each June, at Wadebridge, about 10 miles away.
